Bolton and Beyond

Deputy Mitchell is an award winning former Headteacher of two schools in the UK and has 25 years experience in the Primary sector. Since leaving Headship in 2013, he has been working with 1000s of schools across the globe on projects linked to audience and purpose, making learning relevant for students of all ages through effective and proven strategies involving technology. In 2011, Deputy Mitchell founded QuadBlogging, a simple and free project for teachers connecting writers and audience. To date, over 1,000,000 students in 80+ countries have used it. Deputy Mitchell recently presented a TEDx Talk on the impact of audience on young people and has spoken at events across the globe from: South Africa, New York, Serbia, Germany, Brazil and Australia as well as featuring on BBC News, TV and radio.

“Getting children to blog is like getting overweight children to exercise by holding strictly Come Dancing competitions: an intelligent and overdue harnessing of the pop culture that we can diss all we like but that remains the backbone of most people’s non-working lives. Some stories make me really love the modern world and this is one of them. David Mitchell deserves a medal at the very least.”
